This scheme funds large or complex research projects in particle physics, nuclear physics, astronomy, particle astrophysics, accelerator physics, and computing for PPAN. It supports activities such as participating in high-priority experiments, developing new instruments or detectors, upgrading computing facilities, and operating existing facilities. Only invited applicants who have passed a statement of interest stage can apply, and STFC funds 80% of the full economic cost.
Only invited applicants who have undergone a successful statement of interest stage are eligible. Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for STFC funding, and the lead research organisation must be eligible.
