FundFinder

About the project

What FundFinder does

FundFinder helps university researchers and research offices discover, screen, and prepare for research funding calls across multiple countries. Data is collected from official funder websites and can be supplemented by developers when an official page omits a key field.

2,774 funding opportunities
19 live sources
13 countries / regions
326 form packs analyzed

The database holds 2,774 indexed calls (same universe as the Browse view) plus 26 university funding-news items on /news.

Available now

  • Search and filter all indexed calls by keyword, country, source, agency, deadline status, and network (WUN / CUHK).
  • Specific opportunity links take users to individual calls rather than generic funder homepages where possible.
  • Eligibility, deadlines, and forms are shown on grant cards and detail pages.
  • Application-form analysis extracts questions, writing prompts, fields, and detected word/page limits from PDFs and DOCX files.
  • OCR and XFA extraction handles scanned PDFs and dynamic Grants.gov forms.
  • WUN / CUHK pathways highlight collaboration routes and partner institutions.
  • CSV / Excel exports of the full database for offline review.

  • 75 deadlines are not stated on the indexed page. Many are standing programmes or require institution-specific/internal deadlines.
  • Some form analyses use a representative source-level template; exact call-specific questions may differ.
  • ANR, SNSF, and RGC portals expose fewer downloadable forms, so their form analysis is thinner.
  • Generic eligibility text still needs more scheme-specific detail for some sources.
  • Grant records are snapshots; users should confirm current status and requirements on the linked official opportunity page.
  • There is not yet user login, saved shortlists, email alerts, or automated deadline reminders.

Missing data is tracked and fixable through the internal team tools (see the team-access list on the tech-stack page).

Current source coverage

Sources currently include Grants.gov, Horizon Europe, ERC, UKRI, DFG, ANR, NWO, SNSF, NSERC, JSPS, Hong Kong RGC, and WUN.

How to navigate FundFinder

Home — search everything

One workspace: a single search bar over all indexed calls, with a collapsible Filters panel (country, source, agency, deadline status, WUN / CUHK network). Results are paginated and every card links to the full call details.

Browse — the full database

With no filters set, Browse lists every indexed call. Expand any card for evidence links; download CSV / Excel; leave structured feedback on any card.

News

University funding announcements (briefing sessions, calls for papers) cross-referenced with the opportunities they relate to.

Grant detail & form analysis (from any card)

Each call has an enriched page (/g/{id}): summary, structured eligibility dimensions, funding figures, deadlines, application forms and official evidence links — and a form-analysis view (/g/{id}/form) with extracted questions, fields and word/page limits.

About the data — tags & evidence

What every filter, chip and label means, where each value came from (official page or LLM reading of it), and how to verify. Nothing is invented — unstated values are labelled unspecified.

FundFinder is a research-discovery aid, not an authoritative funding notice. Always verify requirements on the linked official opportunity page before applying.
