Expression of interest: Precision prevention: biological mechanisms of response variation

This funding opportunity supports research into the biological mechanisms underlying variation in response to biomedical prevention interventions in humans. Projects must involve experimental interventions or challenges in pre-disease or early disease states to generate mechanistic evidence, with the aim of improving the targeting and effectiveness of precision prevention strategies. The scheme funds projects with a full economic cost up to £5 million over up to five years, with MRC funding 80% of the full economic cost. A mandatory expression of interest is required before full application.

Applicants must be employed by an eligible UK research organisation and be project leads or co-leads. International researchers can apply as project co-leads (international). Businesses and charity/third sector organisations cannot lead but can participate as project partners.
