It is a two-stage opportunity with rolling application rounds closing every April and October. There is no limit on funding amount or project length, and the funder covers 80% of full economic cost.
Applicants must be researchers based at a research organisation eligible to apply for MRC funding. Those taking the next step towards becoming an independent researcher may apply as a 'new investigator'.
