This scheme funds early-career researchers to support their transition to research independence. It enables applicants to develop their own research vision and lead a project team. The award covers 80% of the full economic cost (FEC) of the project, and projects should apply for the duration and funding required to fully meet their research goals.
Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding. It must be their first application to EPSRC as a project lead.
