This scheme funds doctoral focal awards that provide entrepreneurship-focused doctoral training, combining academically rigorous research with experiential learning in venture creation. UKRI has £25 million available and expects to fund one to three awards. Applications can be led by organisations eligible for standard UKRI funding or by businesses/social enterprises that complete non-standard eligibility before an award is made.
Open to organisations with standard or non-standard UKRI eligibility. Lead organisations can be higher education institutions, research council institutes, independent research organisations, Catapult centres, public sector research establishments, businesses, social enterprises, and other organisations. Collaborating organisations can include businesses, charities, and public sector bodies. Named individuals must be based at eligible organisations.
