This scheme funds the Open Access publication of academic books that result from NWO-funded research projects. It covers Book Processing Charges for peer-reviewed monographs, edited collections, and critical editions, with a maximum of €10,000 per project. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no deadlines, and are assessed by the NWO Office against criteria such as peer review, Creative Commons licensing, and deposit in the OAPEN library.

Project leaders or co-applicants of awarded NWO research projects with a tenured position or tenure track agreement at eligible research organisations (universities, UMCs, KNAW/NWO institutes, etc.) can apply. Persons with zero-hour or limited-term contracts (except tenure track) are not eligible.
