JSPS · JP · JSPS
This scheme funds excellent young researchers in Japan, allowing them to focus on a freely chosen research topic at an independently selected research institution. It provides monthly stipends and research grants (Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows) to doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers, with categories including DC, PD, RPD, and CPD fellowships. The program aims to foster and secure excellent researchers, with support for childbirth and childcare leave.
Applicants must be excellent young researchers in Japan, with specific eligibility per category: DC applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral course in Japan (no nationality requirement); PD and RPD applicants must hold a doctoral degree and be within 5 years of receiving it, and be a citizen or permanent resident of Japan (RPD also requires having suspended research for childbirth/childcare); CPD applicants must be in the first year of a PD fellowship. All fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences are eligible.
