The Topic-Setting Program to Advance Cutting-Edge Humanities and Social Sciences Research, run by JSPS, funds joint research projects in the humanities and social sciences across four subsets: Area Cultivation, Responding to Real Society, Global Initiatives, and Co-creation of academic knowledge. It supports research that yields breakthroughs through interdisciplinary collaboration, contributes to society, and builds international networks. The program includes both topic-setting research themes selected by the Program Committee and openly recruited research themes proposed by researchers.
