The Overseas Research Fellowships program by JSPS provides excellent young Japanese researchers with the opportunity to conduct long-term research at overseas universities or research institutions, fostering researchers with wide international perspectives. A special category, Restart Research Abroad (RRA), launched in FY2016, supports young Japanese researchers who have suspended research due to life events such as marriage, childbirth, child raising, nursing, or caregiving. Fellows are not employed by JSPS.
