The Centres for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences funding scheme enables particularly distinguished researchers to collaborate at a single location to develop a research topic in the humanities and social sciences. Centres are designed to tackle broadly defined topics that integrate existing strengths and individual research concepts, with no specific thematic or interdisciplinary requirements. The programme supports intensive independent research by 2-3 responsible researchers, a fellow programme for visiting researchers from Germany and abroad, and can run for up to eight years. Proposals are submitted in a multi-stage process, starting with draft proposals in response to calls.
