Collaborative Research Centres (CRCs) are long-term university-based research institutions established for up to 12 years, enabling researchers to collaborate on innovative, complex, and long-term research programmes. They support institutional priority area development and structural development, with interdisciplinary cooperation and integration of non-university partners. Funding covers staff, instrumentation, consumables, travel, and various modules including early career support and international cooperation.
Universities and equivalent institutions in Germany entitled to confer doctorates can apply. Other research institutions making essential contributions may be integrated.
